Global Science & Technology, Inc. (GST), a growing scientific and high technology company, seeks an experienced Web Developer to support the Hydrospheric and Biospheric Support Services (HBS) program at NASA.  Position is located in Greenbelt, MD. 

Position Summary:

The Web Content Manager will work closely with developers, scientists and support staff to enhance a variety of Earth Science websites.  This person will serve as the primary customer interface, gathering new requirements and helping modernize content for public consumption.  The Web Content Manager will help customers with content management training, policy/procedure questions and compliance, and general content changes.  They will also help manage issue tracking for developers, with the opportunity to take on Scrum duties as well as provide recommendations on governance 

Primary Duties:

  • Serve as the entry point for new project requests, working with customers and the developers to establish and maintain project requirements and guiding scientists and support staff through content design decisions
  • Assist developers with migrating and modernizing content into new or revamped websites and provide recommendations for improving information architecture
  • Provide training and documentation for working with content management systems, with a focus on cross-devise, mobile friendly content development and optimization
  • Manage the issue tracking/project management process using JIRA and Confluence
  • Take on additional duties such as content policy assistance, reporting, and possible design support

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • 3-5 years demonstrated hands on experience as a Web Content Specialist, Producer or Manager and a Bachelors degree in a related technology field and/or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent standards-compliant HTML5 and CSS3
  • Solid understanding of content management systems (preferably Drupal)
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize and restructure Information Architecture
  • Experience working with frontend responsive frameworks such as Bootstrap
  • Prior experience working with issue tracking software " preferably Atlassian tools
  • Understanding of accessibility and usability best practices and Section 508 compliance
  • Excellent communication skills and organizational capacities

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working with Google Analytics
  • Skilled with graphics software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, or GIMP
  • Project management experience, particularly in an Agile environment
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for Earth Sciences

Physical Qualification(s) Required:

  • Ability to use a computer

  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal)

U.S. citizenship is required.
