Global Science & Technology, Inc. (GST), a growing scientific and high technology company, is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to support the NASA JPSS contract.  The position is located in Greenbelt, MD. 

Position Summary:

As a member of the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Ground Project Data Products Engineering and Services (DPES) team, the Senior Testing Specialist will be a member of the System Engineering Integration and Test (SEI&T) team that supports the Government Resource for Algorithm Verification, Independent Test and Evaluation (GRAVITE) system and the Field Terminal Support (FTS) system with emphasis on testing.  GRAVITE provides near-line support to in-line operational algorithm software, science team information technology support for calibration and validation of the operational algorithm software, and quality monitoring of the operational algorithm software production.

The Senior Test Engineer will support the entire product life cycle from requirements development through integration and test activities.  Responsibilities include specification development/update, test planning, procedure development, test monitoring and reporting.                                                                         

Primary Duties:

The work activities may include (but are not limited to):

  • Manage and perform all aspects of verification and validation including requirements analysis, test planning, test procedures development, test environment setup, and test execution
  • Serve as Test Lead to ensure coverage of all test objectives
  • Develop test plans covering both nominal/non-nominal scenarios
  • Plan tests and schedule all resources required to support test events
  • Ensure test environment synchronization with development and operational environments
  • Develop materials and present at Test Readiness and Post-Test Reviews
  • Develop and Execute test procedures and collect necessary artifacts
  • Develop Final Test reports
  • Maintain configuration control of all test items
  • Develop scripts to automate testing Generate discrepancy reports and manage to closure 

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • B.S. in Systems Engineering, Computer Science or other related degree
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in the systems engineering field related to work activities
  • Systems Engineering experience with a large science data processing system, to include integration and test of software systems
  • Familiarity with NASA systems engineering processes and policies
  • Ability to develop and manage scripts for automating test procedures
  • Ability to problem solve and effectively interact with multiple technical teams 
  • Possess planning and organizational skills 
  • Effectively communicate technical information and work status accurately and reliably to team members, project leads and managers
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter and work in the applicable government facility 

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with version control systems, such as Subversion
  • Experience with database and system architecture tools
  • Experience with requirements management
  • Experience with Java, Python, HTML and software development would be strongly considered.
  • Experience with testing frameworks like Selenium (or equivalent) would be strongly considered 

Physical Requirement:

  • Ability to use a computer. 

Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to think on feet
  • Willingness to collaborate with a wide variety of staff with skills areas different than employee.

U.S. citizenship or Permanent Residency is required.
