Global Science & Technology, Inc., a fast growing scientific and high technology firm, is seeking an experienced Technical Proposal Writer to support a growing federal government contractor.

Position Summary:

The Technical Writer reviews requests for information (RFIs) and requests for proposals (RFPs); develops proposal outlines, and compliance matrixes. For each proposal effort, the Technical Writer assembles and reviews the inputs from company employees and managers, consultants, and subcontractors. The Technical Writer guides proposal teams and subject matter experts (SMEs) in preparing required components of the proposal. The Technical Writer takes inputs from technical staff and writes the appropriate proposal volume (including, but not limited to, the management, technical, past performance, business, and cost/price volumes) and ensures that all proposal materials meet customer requirements. The Technical Writer develops proposal drafts and final versions that are responsive to RFP compliance, thorough, accurate, and of high quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develops the proposal annotated outlines, compliance matrices, and templates
  • Ensures adequate resources are available to write to all requirements
  • Leads proposal volume meetings as needed
  • Interviews technical experts regarding proposal requirements, and writes the responses in a proposal compliant format
  • Coordinates written inputs from experts and writes high quality proposal materials responsive to the RFP
  • Writes proposal volumes and sections such as past performance, technical volumes and management volumes, as needed
  • Responds to color team reviews and ensures recommendations are incorporated into the next version
  • Creates corporate concepts and boilerplate content for use in future proposals

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of direct experience producing proposals for opportunities within the federal government

Required Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Experience writing and editing high quality technical proposals
  • Experience with the business development life cycle
  • Experience leading and facilitating subject matter experts in providing technical materials that are needed to write a winning proposal.
  • Experience working with senior technical managers and SMEs
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and SharePoint

Desired Experience/Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Two years of experience preparing proposals for science and technology based contracts or equivalent experience.
  • Detail-oriented with first-class leadership and motivational skills
  • Excellent time management and interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience implementing industry standard processes such as Shipley is a plus
  • Experience working on small business development teams and assuming multiple business development roles
