Global Science & Technology, a growing scientific and high technology firm, is seeking a Technical Writer to support the NOAA STAR Administrative & Management Support for the Center for Satellite Applications and Research. Position is located in College Park, MD.
** Position Contingent upon Award of Contract **
Position Summary:
The Technical Writer will support the STAR Administrative & Support contract by researching, writing and editing materials related to manuals, briefs, proposals, instructional material, catalogs, technical publications and reports.
Primary Duties:
- Obtain data from independent observation, review with staff members, and studies of published materials and existing documentation.
- Interface with users, specialists, analysts, programmers, and other appropriate individuals to obtain background business/technical information, methods, and standards.
- Revise text and recommend changes in scope, format, and content to ensure conformance with established standards.
- Edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other writers.
- Perform final quality assurance on all materials.
Required Education/Experience/Skills:
- S. degree in English, Journalism or Business and a minimum of 8 years of professional experience. Appropriate years of relevant experience can substitute for degree.
- Demonstrated proficiency writing and editing technical material
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
Desired Experience/Skills:
- Previous NOAA experience.
Physical Qualification(s) Required:
- Ability to use a computer
- Ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
Mental Qualification(s) Required:
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to multitask
- Team player
U.S. citizenship or Permanent Residency is highly desirable.
