Global Science & Technology, Inc., a fast growing scientific and high technology firm, is seeking a Remote Sensing Scientist to support the NOAA NESDIS/STAR program.  The position is located in College Park, MD.

Primary Duties:

  • Monitor spacecraft instrument, Raw Data Records (RDR) and Sensor Data Records (SDR) parameters for multiple satellite remote sensing instruments using radiative transfer simulations, inter-sensor comparisons, and double difference methods.
  • Evaluate performance of spacecraft instrument and conformance of SDR data to specification requirements.
  • Assess instrument performance over mission lifetime including trend analysis, frequency of anomalies, and review of ICVS quality products.
  • Investigate applicability of AI-enabled tools to support ICVS objectives
  • Development of AI-enabled capabilities to advance science goals, technologies, and efficiency of ICVS
  • Determine new approach and methods to use for RO data for atmospheric modeling  

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • M.S. degree (preferred) in Satellite Remote Sensing Sciences, Meteorology, Oceanography, Atmospheric Science, or related fields. Or, a B.S. degree in the fields listed above and 2 years minimum of professional experience.  An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • 2 years working experience in satellite products retrieval algorithm and/or calibration and validations, which is related to at least one of the instruments with JPSS ICVS.
  • Familiarity with radiative transfer models
  • 2 years working experience in Python, FORTRAN, C/C++, IDL, Perl, JAVA language in Unix/Linux system.
  • Experience with AI-enabled technology and tools is preferred. These include machine learning, automated decision making, pattern recognition, and classification.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work with others as a research team
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment

Desired Experience:

  • Experience with AI-enabled technology and tools is preferred. These include machine learning, automated decision making, pattern recognition, and classification.

Physical Qualification Required:

  • Ability to use a computer. 

Mental Qualification Required:

  • Ability to think on one's feet. 

U.S. citizenship or Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) is required.
